Maintenance Operative
Role Summary:
The Maintenance Operative is essential for upkeeping the National Badminton Centre and Lodge, focusing primarily on painting and decorating, with additional carpentry duties. This role ensures facilities are well-maintained, adhering to safety and budget standards, handling reactive maintenance, delivering excellent customer service, and supporting operational management tasks.
Main responsibilities:
** Facility Maintenance and Job-Specific Tasks:
• Perform preventive maintenance, including carpentry, painting, and decorating across the National Badminton Centre and Lodge.
• Conduct reactive maintenance, including basic plumbing Adhere to daily and weekly checks, maintaining accurate records to ensure smooth site operations.
** Financial Management:
• Complete maintenance tasks within the budget, ensuring high standards while choosing the most cost-effective solutions.
** Customer Service:
• Provide excellent customer service in the NBC environment, with a basic understanding of Centre functions to refer customers to the appropriate departments.
Compliance and Safety:
• Execute maintenance tasks in line with health and safety policies and personal risk assessments.
• Ensure tools are well-maintained and report any needing replacement to the Operations/General Manager.
** Communication:
• Provide regular updates on job progress to the NBC management team.
• Be proactive and use initiative to address member complaints and other issues.
** Operational Management:
• Serve as a First Aider, assisting with incidents as needed (training provided).
• Act as a Fire Warden, aiding in emergency evacuations according to the Emergency Evacuation plan. (training provided)
• Provide backup key holder support, including opening and closing the National Badminton Centre.
** Oversight and Collaboration:
• Collaborate with external contractors on specialised maintenance tasks across the National Badminton Centre. Resolving issues and collaborating with the Operations Manager.
Successful Candidate:
The ideal candidate should have a background in facilities or a similar industry. They should be qualified to either a level 2/3 city and guilds in a relevant field or relevant qualification.

Salary: £25,000-£28,000 per annum
