Badminton Development Officer for Guernsey Badminton Association
The GBA (Guernsey Badminton Association) is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and experienced individual to the role of Badminton Development Officer The successful applicant will be a qualified coach, either with Badminton England or Badminton World Federation and be responsible for the design and delivery of the GBA badminton programme across the island, with a particular focus on junior participation and pathways. The successful candidate will also work closely with the Guernsey Sports Commission, as well as the GBA. There will be specific emphasis for identifying opportunities to create and achieve measurable targets in new and existing player development, which will include working with the players in the Elite programme.

The GBA will take care of the application of the licences and permits for the successful candidate.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Coordinate and develop both junior and senior player training and improvement programs.
- Review coaching opportunities for all levels. Coordinate and implement opportunities.
- Develop more coaches.
- Work with all clubs to review the current playing opportunities for all levels and provide clarity for inclusion on the GBA website and social media platforms. Encourage those ‘ad hoc’ players to join appropriate clubs where possible.
- Develop a plan to utilise our indoor facilities more widely.
- Establish policies, procedures and guidelines in line with good practices as identified by Badminton England or any other body that the GBA may be associated with.
- Work within defined budgets as approved by the GBA and make suggestions for improvements.
- Maintain qualified First Aid and CPR certifications for individuals at all levels of the sport.
- Supervise, train and support assigned volunteers within the sport. Recruit more volunteers as required.
Competencies
- Proven track record in organization, training program delivery and player development.
- High level communication skills both in coaching and man management.
- A willingness and acceptance of out of hours work is essential.
- An ability to work as part of a small team and complete both the day to day routine as well as the more strategic planning and operations tasks
