With more than a million players playing badminton every month in England, badminton is the nation’s most played racket sport and the sixth biggest sport overall in this country. Quite simply, we want to inspire everyone to play more, support the sport and love, live and breathe badminton.
Our home is the National Badminton Centre (NBC) in Milton Keynes, and, through our staff team, we are making this a great place to work, rest and play. An accredited Elite Training Centre, the NBC is the home of badminton in England and is set for a modern new look…..where the best talent is nurtured, and elite athletes are developed to compete and represent England and Great Britain on the world stage. And yet it is so much more. Of course we host world-class badminton courts open to clubs, coaches and the wider badminton community. However, we are also home to public and professional gym facilities, fitness suites and a spin studio, meeting rooms, a popular three-star 25-room hotel, a sports bar, a small restaurant and we even host the National Badminton Museum - all open to the public.’ We are also very proud to host our flourishing para-badminton programme in Sheffield at the English Institute of Sport. A dedicated team work tirelessly from our second home in South Yorkshire to ensure elite badminton remains a sport for everyone.

The Role
Badminton England’s programmes are central to the key objectives for badminton to become the most inclusive sport. We are looking for a motivated, passionate and innovative individual to join our team and expand/deliver our Shuttle Stars Programme further into our community.
By understanding the needs of our community and players, you will lead on the growth and development of Shuttle Stars. You will be responsible for a significant expansion of the programme ensuring the deployment across the community commercially to maximise the number of participants and reach of the sport.

Responsibilities
- Lead the co-ordination/ delivery and implementation Shuttle Stars programme – taking it from its current position in the live pilot phase to successful nationwide rollout and establishment as one of the nation’s leading junior sports programmes in partnership with Regional Managers and national officers
- Establish Shuttle Stars programmes as follows: 90 club environments, 90 leisure operator environments and 1600 participants
- Lead programme development, co-ordination of delivery and roll out of Shuttle Stars utilising customer and stakeholder insight to ensure an excellent participant experience and a sustainable business model for deliverers.
- Ensure effective, affordable systems and processes are in place to underpin the Shuttle Stars programme.
- Identify, build and maintain excellent relationships with key partners and stakeholders that support delivery of Shuttle Stars.
- Ensure that insight is utilised effectively across Shuttle Stars so that customer journeys are simple, clear, effective and efficient and programmes evolve to meet their needs.
- Ensure that effective systems are implemented and maintained that enable efficient programme management and the collection of data.
- Fully realise the commercial opportunities of Shuttle Stars to drive revenue and ensure long-term sustainability of the programmes.
- Line manage direct reports in line with the Badminton England values and to support their growth and development.
Who are we looking for?
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a passion for making a difference and the skills and experience to roll out major sports programmes ensuring the delivery of a great participant experience and long-term financial sustainability.
You will have:
- Proven and significant experience of leading the development and implementation of successful national sports programmes (or similar).
- A track record of delivering impact through product or programme development/implementation.
- Excellent knowledge/understanding of the sporting landscape with contacts and relationships that support the growth of the programmes.
- A track record of implementing systems for customer insight and utilising the results to inform programme development.
- Proven experience in leading and managing people and the ability to work as part of a wider team.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, influencing and relationship management skills.
- The ability to communicate with a range of audiences.
- Proven commercial acumen with the ability to develop solutions that enable sport development programmes to become financially sustainable.
- Excellent planning and organisational ability.
- The ability to make decisions and work effectively under pressure.
- The ability to solve problems and make sound judgements using data and evidence.
- The desire and passion to make a difference.
- A values orientation with alignment to Badminton England organisational values.
